2. Hosting (Cloudflare Pages)

This website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, a service of Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. When you visit the site, Cloudflare automatically processes technical data in server log files and to deliver and secure the site, in particular: IP address, date and time of the request, requested URL, referrer URL, browser type and version, operating system, and amount of data transferred. This data is required to deliver the website, ensure its stability and security, and defend against attacks (e.g. DDoS). Legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in a secure and efficient website). Log data is stored only as long as necessary for these purposes, in accordance with Cloudflare's retention periods.

We have concluded a data processing agreement with Cloudflare (Art. 28 GDPR). Cloudflare may process data in the USA. Cloudflare, Inc. is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (adequacy decision of the European Commission, Art. 45 GDPR); in addition, Standard Contractual Clauses (Art. 46(2)(c) GDPR) are in place. More information: cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.

3. Cookies and analytics

We currently do not use analytics or tracking tools and do not set any analytics or marketing cookies. Should this change, we will update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent beforehand (§ 25 TDDDG, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).

4. Newsletter (Beehiiv)

If you subscribe to our newsletter, we process your email address to send you the newsletter. Subscription uses the double opt-in procedure: after signing up you receive an email asking you to confirm your subscription; only then are you added to the list. We log the time of sign-up and confirmation and the IP address to be able to prove consent. Legal basis is your consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR. You can withdraw your consent and unsubscribe at any time via the link in every newsletter or by emailing us; the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal remains unaffected. Your data is stored until you unsubscribe and then deleted, except for data we must retain to prove prior consent.

We use Beehiiv, a service of Beehiiv Inc., USA, as our newsletter provider. Beehiiv processes your data on our behalf under a data processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR). Transfers to the USA are based on Standard Contractual Clauses (Art. 46(2)(c) GDPR) and/or the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified. Beehiiv may evaluate whether newsletters are opened and which links are clicked. More information: beehiiv.com/privacy.

5. Submission, media kit and contact requests

If you submit a tool, request a media kit or contact us by email, we process the data you provide (e.g. name, company, email address, tool details, message) in order to handle your request. Form submissions are delivered to us by email. Legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where your request relates to a contract or pre-contractual measures, and otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in responding to enquiries and maintaining the directory). We delete the data once your request has been fully handled, unless statutory retention obligations apply (e.g. commercial and tax law).

6. Your rights

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

Widerspruchsrecht (Right to object, Art. 21 GDPR): Where we process data on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, you have the right to object at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation. We will then no longer process the data unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests, or the processing serves the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.

To exercise your rights, simply email [email protected].

7. Beschwerderecht bei der Aufsichtsbehörde (Right to lodge a complaint)

You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR). The authority responsible for us is:
